BEAT FACIAL DETECTION exists to make the use of police facial-recognition technology easier for the public to understand. We collect and organise publicly available information about reported LFR deployments and explain relevant rights and safeguards in straightforward language.

What we are not

• We are not affiliated with any UK police force.
• We do not encourage interference with police activity or provide methods for defeating facial-recognition systems.
• Information may become outdated or incomplete, so important legal or safety decisions should be checked against current official guidance or qualified legal advice.

How we source information

Every deployment record stores its original source, when that source was published and when we last checked it. Every rights card stores its source, the jurisdiction it applies to and the date it was last reviewed. We prioritise police force publications, the College of Policing, UK government sources, the Information Commissioner's Office, legislation and official guidance, judicial decisions, and reputable civil-liberties organisations for additional context.

We do not generate legal information automatically and present it as fact. Community reports are always shown as unverified until a moderator has checked them against a credible public source.

Live information only

This site reads police force pages and public reports directly and shows only current information: deployments that are upcoming, happening today, or reported in the last fourteen days. Older entries are removed automatically. Every entry links back to the page it came from. There is no example or placeholder data. Where a force has not published anything, nothing will appear — an empty map does not mean facial recognition is not in use.
